What Is Veronika Wildgruber Eyewear?
Berlin design.
A new way to look.
Veronika Wildgruber is a Berlin-based independent eyewear brand with a sculptural approach to shape and color.1 Bright Side Optical carries the collection in Austin and helps you connect the design you love with a comfortable fit and a considered lens plan.
There are frames you understand at a glance. Others make you pause, turn them in your hands, and look again. A rim seems to change thickness. A second color appears along an edge. A bridge does something you had not expected.
That small moment of discovery is part of the attraction here. You can enjoy the glasses on your face and enjoy them as an object. We want you to have time for both.
The Designer Behind the Name
It begins with how things are made.
Veronika’s studio describes an approach led by materials and inspired by craftsmanship and manufacturing. Alongside eyewear, she has designed patterns for Hermès silk items since 2011 and collaborated with its home and jewellery departments.2
That wider design practice is a lovely reason to pay attention. You are meeting someone who thinks about surfaces, objects, and the experience of using them.
The eyewear began with four handcrafted frames in 2010, earning the Silmo d’Or Special Jury prize. Series production followed in 2012.1
We love the intimacy of that beginning: four pieces, each carrying a designer’s idea. The pleasure for you is discovering which expression of that idea feels at home on your own face.
It is a useful invitation when you try on the collection. Give the shape a moment. Let your eye move from the whole frame to the detail that makes you curious. Sometimes the quietest change is the one you keep looking back at.

BRIXXX · Sculptural Acetate
A shape you can keep discovering.
The maker describes BRIXXX as an acetate frame whose surfaces reveal different layers and levels on closer inspection.3 The photograph gives you a starting point: follow the brow, then let your eye move along the rim.
A sculpted edge can change how substantial a frame looks. The front gives you one impression; an angled view gives you another. That is something to explore in your hands and then on your face.
During styling, we look at that relationship with you. Does the upper line give your face definition? Does the scale feel comfortable? Do you enjoy the design as much when you see your whole reflection?
You might love a frame because it has presence. You might love it because a small detail feels like something a fellow design enthusiast would notice. There is room for either.
REN · A Fine Line with Character
A little twist changes the conversation.
REN takes another direction: a rounded pantos shape with a distinctive twist at the bridge. The official sage example combines a German-silver front, bronze temples, and titanium nose pads.4
A finer rim leaves more of your face visible. The bridge becomes a detail you notice as you look closer. It is a useful reminder that expressive glasses can have a lighter visual presence, too.
When we compare it with a substantial acetate frame, we are comparing how each design feels on you. Where does your eye go first? How much definition do you want around your eyes? Which pair makes your expression feel most familiar—or most exciting?
A frame photograph helps you understand the idea. Trying it on helps you understand the relationship.

BRIXXX and REN illustrate the maker’s range. We confirm the model, finish, fit, and availability of the frame you are considering.
The Work Behind the Shape
Interesting design deserves careful making.
The brand says its frame components are made in Europe, mainly by small family-run companies in Germany and Italy. Product development happens in close contact with those suppliers.1
That is an appealing way to imagine the journey from an idea to a pair of glasses. The designer and the people making the components have to work through the detail together. An unusual shape asks for that attention.
The collection explores layered and bevelled acetate alongside inventive metal constructions.1 Each model gives us something specific to examine, from the profile of a rim to the way the bridge meets the lenses.
For you, the pleasure is practical as well as visual. We want you to understand what you are choosing, how it feels, and how we can make it work with the way you see.
A Thoughtful Surrounding World
The care extends to the things around the frame.
The maker describes cases made from regenerated leather, cleaning cloths made from recycled plastic, and packing materials reused from incoming deliveries.1 They are specific choices you can appreciate as part of the brand’s approach to using materials thoughtfully.
Why Bright Side Carries Veronika Wildgruber
We want to give your curiosity somewhere to go.
A collection like this gives us the pleasure of introducing you to a designer’s point of view. We can put a frame in your hands, show you a detail, and watch the conversation open up.
We enjoy carrying eyewear that asks us to look carefully. It makes us better at explaining what we see and more thoughtful about what we choose for you. A curated optical should have ideas to share.
You may already love architecture, furniture, fashion, or art. You may simply know that your current glasses feel a little less interesting than the rest of your life. We want to hear that.
Then we translate it into possibilities. A stronger brow. A more open shape. A color that connects with your wardrobe. Something you had not thought to try, offered with enough time to decide how you feel.
Our stylists receive no individual sales commission. We want the conversation to help you recognize what you love and understand the choices involved. Your questions are welcome.

Beauty You Can Use Every Day
The frame and lenses belong in the same conversation.
We look at your prescription and visual needs alongside the frame. Its width, depth, bridge, and position on your face help us judge whether it is a good starting point for the lenses you need.
Tell us where you use your glasses most. Long days at a screen, a book in the evening, driving, and time outside each give us useful information. We want you to enjoy seeing through the finished pair as much as you enjoy looking at it.
For personalized progressives, Bright Side uses Optikam measurements as part of the fitting process. Learn how frame wrap, back vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt inform lens personalization in why some progressive lenses cost more than others.
