Six things a progressive frame needs
A stable bridge
The frame should stay at a repeatable height on your nose. A bridge that slides can move the viewing zones away from where we measured them.
Balanced width
We look for a width that fits without squeezing or slipping. Extra lens area does not automatically create more useful vision and may add weight or thickness.
Good eye position
Your pupils need to sit in a useful part of the lens shape, with room below for the selected progressive design. We assess this on your face, not from the frame dimensions alone.
A fit we can maintain
The temples, frame tilt, wrap and distance from lens to eye should support the lens plan. We adjust the frame first and consider how consistently it will sit during daily wear.
A match for your prescription
Your prescription, lens material, progressive design and daily tasks guide the frame choice. We check the complete pair before ordering.
Bigger isn't always better
A shallow frame can limit progressive options, but an oversized frame is not automatically better. Extra width or depth can add lens area, thickness or weight without improving the viewing zones you use.
The goal is enough usable space in a proportionate frame that stays in place. Some shorter frames can work with a compatible design; we check the required fitting height before ordering.

How we fit your frame and lenses
First, we adjust the frame to your face: the bridge, temples and position of the lenses. Then we take the measurements with that adjusted frame on you, in your natural posture.
We measure each eye's pupil position and fitting height, and use Optikam digital fitting measurements to help capture how the frame sits. For compatible personalized designs, position-of-wear information can include frame wrap, lens-to-eye distance and tilt.
We choose the progressive design around your prescription and how you use your glasses, then check the finished lenses and final fit when you collect them.
Getting used to your progressives
Progressives put different viewing distances in different areas of the lens. We show you how to find those areas for reading, screens and looking farther away, using the pair fitted to you.
Getting used to them varies with your prescription, previous glasses, lens design and fit. We do not promise a set adjustment timeline. If you feel as though you are constantly searching for clear vision, the frame keeps slipping or something feels wrong, contact us promptly so we can help.
If your progressives don't feel right
Come back so we can recheck the frame fit, your measurements and whether the lenses match your written prescription. You are welcome to come in for a progressive measurement recheck any time, even after 30 days.
Each pair includes one no-cost lens remake for progressive non-adaptation or a change from the prescribing doctor within 30 days of your order date. After that window, remakes for those reasons are not free. Upgraded lens options cost extra. See our Terms for the full remake policy.
If you brought an outside prescription, please return to the doctor who wrote it for a prescription recheck. Bring any updated prescription to us. We check that your lenses match the written prescription; we do not recheck an outside prescription itself.

Questions about progressive lenses in designer frames
Can I wear progressive lenses in designer frames?
Yes. Many designer frames can work with progressive lenses. We check the specific frame for usable lens depth, a stable fit, eye position and compatibility with your prescription and chosen progressive design before ordering.
Are bigger frames better for progressive lenses?

Can progressive lenses go in small frames?

Why do you adjust the frame before measuring?
The lens viewing zones need to line up with your eyes in the position you actually wear the frame. We adjust the bridge, temples and frame position first, then take the fitting measurements with that frame on your face.
How long does it take to get used to progressive lenses?
It varies. Your prescription, previous glasses, lens design and frame fit all affect the experience. We explain how to use the viewing areas and help with fit. If something feels wrong, contact us promptly rather than waiting for a promised adjustment deadline.
What if my progressive lenses don't feel right?
Come back so we can recheck your measurements, frame fit and whether the lenses match the written prescription. Each pair includes one no-cost lens remake for progressive non-adaptation or a change from the prescribing doctor within 30 days of your order date. Upgraded lens options cost extra. For an outside prescription, return to the doctor who wrote it for a prescription recheck and bring any updated prescription to us.
What if I do not love the frame I chose?
Eligible frames are covered by our 60-day Love Your Glasses Guarantee, measured from your purchase date. We offer a one-time re-frame and re-style, including the replacement lenses needed for the new frame. A frame price difference may apply, and upgraded lens options cost extra. Custom, modified or specially ordered frames are excluded; frames must show no signs of wear, damage or misuse.
