Yellow lenses are marketed as a solution for headlight glare and low contrast. The strongest controlled evidence does not show better pedestrian detection or protection from the effects of glare—and every tint removes some light.

In a controlled driving-simulator study, participants detected pedestrians no faster with three commercially available yellow-lens glasses than with clear lenses. Yellow lenses also did not reduce the negative effect of simulated oncoming headlight glare.
The scene may look subjectively warmer or more contrasty, but that impression did not translate into better detection performance.

Use a current distance prescription, clear lenses, quality anti-reflective treatment, accurate measurements, stable frame fit, and clean lens surfaces. Clean both sides of the windshield and reduce unnecessary dashboard brightness.
If glare or halos are increasing, evaluate dry eye, cataracts, corneal changes, prescription, and other potential causes.
